the "Kumamoto City Disaster Prevention Basic Ordinance" in order to

mind.
In order to pass on the lessons learned

【In the event of an earthquake Shisei Dayori April (2)】
In the event of an earthquake, please take
the following precautions to protect yourself.
【If you are at home】
Take actions to protect yourself first and
foremost, such as hiding under a table.
Put out the fire, turn off the main gas
valve, and evacuate with your shoes on to prevent injury to your feet.
【If you are on the street】
Move away from block walls, vending
machines, and other objects that may fall over.
Protect your head with a bag or similar
item and evacuate to a vacant lot or nearby park.
【If you are driving a car】
Slow down, turn on your hazard lamps, and
pull over to the left side of the road. Do not get out of your car until the
tremors subside and gather information.
【If you are near the coast】
Evacuate to higher ground, listen carefully
to tsunami information, and stay away from the coastline. Even if the tremors
are small, a large tsunami may be generated.
A split-second decision can mean the
difference between life and death in the event of an earthquake. Do not panic
and act calmly.
【When you ride a bicycle, wear a helmet. Shisei Dayori April issue (3)】
Since
head injuries account for approximately 60% of fatalities in bicycle-related
accidents, wearing a helmet is mandatory under the Road Traffic Law and the
Kumamoto City Bicycle Ordinance. However, the helmet wearing rate in Kumamoto
Prefecture is about 8%, which is low even for the rest of the country. It is
important to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, and to have bicycle
insurance.
Five
Rules for Safe Bicycle Use
(1)In principle, ride on the left side of the road. Pedestrians have
priority on sidewalks.
(2)At intersections, obey traffic signals and stop signs, and check for
safety.
(3)Turn on your bicycle light at night.
(4)Do not ride under the influence of alcohol
(5)Wear a helmet
