December 31st (Sat.)                                            
All-night! New Year's Eve                                                Opening performances by Kumamoto Castle Omotenashi Bushotai; gourmet booths from year-end to New Year; Stage performances by comedians; video presentations of “The footage of damaged Kumamoto Castle” and “Kumamoto Castle during Edo period – VR video”                                       Time: Starting at 8:00pm                                           
Place: Ninomaru Square

January 1st (Holiday)                                               
Distribution of earthen cups     
Time: Starting at 10:00am  ( We will distribute numbered tickets will be distributed in Ninomaru Square from 8:00AM.)
Place: Sakuranobaba Josaien
Details: Annual event of distribution of unglazed sake cups
Quotas: 2017 people (First come, first served.)

The first laugh of the year: stage event

New Year Taiko

By donating \10,000 or more once, you will be named as a lord of Kumamoto Castle.  If you support the restoration and reconstruction of Kumamoto Castle, take this opportunity and become a lord of the castle.                            
Details: Issuance of Castle Lord Certificate and a discount card (Joshu Tegata); posting your name on the digital name board; presenting a booklet--exclusive to the castle lord -- for those who make a direct application at the counter. 

Reception time & date: January 1st (Holiday)  8:00am – 5:00pm   No service on January 2nd
Place: A special tent in Ninomaru Square

Place: Sakurano Baba Josaien Wakuwakuza

Information about facilities around Kumamoto Castle:                                      
Josaien Wakuwakuza is closed on December 30th (Fri.) and 31st (Sat.).  On January 1st, Josaien, Wakuwakuza and Josaien parking lot are open (admission free).  It is permitted to enter Kumamoto Castle due to the damage of the Kumamoto Earthquake. 

Information about traffic regulations:                                          
Vehicle-free period: 9:00pm, December 31st – 9:00pm, January 3rd             
Vehicle-free zones:
Entrance of Miyukizaka Slope – entrance of Furukyo-machi                                 
          ●Entrance of Miyukizaka Slope – entrance of Ninomaru parking lot at the back of Kumamoto Medical Center                           
As various events will be held, surrounding areas will be crowded due to traffic controls.  If you are planning to pass through these areas, please schedule enough time.
