We will hold a night opening of the Garden in the Autumn Season when the cosmos in the Garden are in full glory.
You will be able to enjoy the atmosphere different from the daytime by the lighting-up of the Cosmos Field .

Handling down Memories and Lessons to Next Generation (Shisei Dayori, November (2) )

Zoological and Botanical Garden is one of local bases for “Corridor of Memories” of Earthquake Museum of Kumamoto Earthquake.
Earthquake Museum is handling down memories and lessons of Kumamoto Earthquake to next generations by way of watching “Earthquake Remnants” and situation until the restoration of them and visiting local bases where you can learn.

Basic Information of Zoological and Botanical Garden

〇Opening hours : 9.00 am~5.00 pm(Monday is closed.(※The 4th Monday is open and its following day is closed.）

〇Entry fee : 500 Yen for High School Students and older people, 100 Yen for Elementary and Junior High School Students, No charge for Children under school.

The City Library is lending Electronic Books. You will be able to read them on your smartphone or tablet and enjoy reading with your single hand even when you are on the way to work or school.

Books of about 13,000 titles from popular novels, picture books for children through illustrated reference book are available. If the book you want to read is out on loan, you will make a reservation for borrowing.
If your mailing address is registered in advance, you will be able to receive an information for lending possibility.
〇It seems difficult to read on the Smartphone because its screen is small.?
Magnifying function, reading out function and so on are now well upgraded. For the people who have no time to read books, we recommend the “reading while doing something else”, by using the reading-out function.

〇Method of Enjoying Only Electronic Library Could Offer?
You will be able to watch animations of birds and insects and enjoy illustrated reference book on which you can hear birds’ singing songs and also picture books and others which you can read by switching words and speeches to foreign languages.
You, therefore, will be able to enjoy them differently from paper books.

〇How to Use Electronic Library?
Library Card or School Cards of Primary or Junior High School are necessary.
The way of making a Library Card is as follows.
Eligible people : people who live in the City or who commute to the City for business or school.

The Time for Medical Examination at Nighttime Emergency Patients Center during Holidays (Kumamoto Area Medical Center) will be Changed (Shisei Dayori, November-(4))

 The departments of internal medicine and surgery at Nighttime Emergency Patients Center(Kumamoto Area Medical Center) will be suspended in the middle of the night (11.00pm~8.00 am, next morning). On the other hand, the Pediatrics will continue to be open in the middle of the night.

COVID-19 CONTACT-CONFIRMING APPLICATION(Shisei Dayori November (6))

In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Ministry has developed a smartphone app called COCOA (COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application). You can download the app to your smartphone.

What is COCOA?

It is a smartphone application the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare has developed to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.

With this app, you can tell the possibility of your contact with a person infected with the novel coronavirus. The app sends you the notification in case you might have spent more than 15 minutes within 1 meter with a person infected with the novel coronavirus.

What are the benefits to install the application?

By installing the app, you can instantly know the possibility of the contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus. You can also receive the information quickly on the support including testing for the virus that public health center and medical institutions provide.The more users it has, the more effectively the app works to prevent the spread of the infection.

How can I sign up for this service?                                            

To use COCOA, you need to install the app on your smartphone. You can easily find COCOA on App Store or Google Play. You can also download the app from QR cord on the website of Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

When you call 119 for emergency, it is essential to answer the operator’s questions calmly. (Shisei Dayori November (8))

Answer: Please convey either “Fire!” or “Ambulance!”

(2)　Operator: “Where is the emergency place?”
Answer: “It’s X-ku, Y-machi, A-chome, B-ban, C-go.”  If it is an apartment house, tell the operator the room number as well. 
※   If you are outdoors and do not know where you are, tell the operator about something which signifies your location, such as nearby buildings and the name of a bridge, the traffic intersection or the bus stop. 

(3)　Operator: “What’s going on?”
Answer: “A fire broke out from tempura oil.”  (Tell the operator what is burning or whether there are some who are trapped.) 
 “It’s a traffic accident.  Some people are injured.”  (Tell the operator whether the person is conscious, whether he/she is breathing, or what kind of bruise he/she suffers.) 
※   A nearest fire engine or an ambulance will rush to the site.  Please give the concrete information.
