Applications Open for Public Housing (Koyou Sokushin Jyutaku)

 

@Temporary use of rooms in public housing is available for those whose homes were destroyed.

 

1. Eligibility: those with a registered address in Kumamoto Prefecture who are unable to live in their home as a result of the earthquake.

 

2. Rent, other costs

 (1) Rent, deposit, and parking fees (limited to one vehicle) . . . Free

 (2) Gas, electricity, water, and common fees . . . . . . . Paid by Tenant

 (3) Joint guarantor fee . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Free

 

3. Availability

[Round 1] Kumamoto Prefecture: 69 rooms (Kumamoto City: 27 rooms)

Rooms are also available outside Kumamoto Prefecture.

Total of 135 rooms available.

[Round 2] Approx. 500 rooms.

 

4. Application Dates

  [Round 1] May 3rd (Tue) – 6th (Fri)

  [Round 2] June 7th (Tue) – 10th (Fri)

 

5. Announcement of Results (chosen applicants will be notified by phone)

  [Round 1] May 13th (Fri)

  [Round 2] June 17th (Fri)

 

6. Duration of Stay: up to six months from move-in date

 

7. Required Documents

(1) Public Housing Application Form (can be obtained from the Kumamoto  

   Cityfs website or the 12th floor of the city hall).

  (2) gDisaster Victim Certificateh (can be submitted at a later date)

 

8. Where to Submit Applications

  [For those who live in Kumamoto City]

[Round 1] City Hall, 12th Floor Meeting Room (open from 8:30am -

5:00pm). You can also submit your application by postal mail to the address below (must be postmarked by the deadline, May 6th)

          [Round 2] Will be announced at a later date.

  [For those who live outside of Kumamoto City]

You can submit your application by postal mail to the address below (must be postmarked by the deadline, May 6th). The Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office will also accept applications.

[Round 1]

May 3rd – 5th: Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office (new wing), 1st floor exhibition space (open from 8:30am – 5:00pm).

May 6th: Kumamoto Prefectural Government Office (new wing), 1st floor lobby (open from 8:30am – 5:00pm).

[Round 2] Will be announced at a later date.

Other

(1)  Public Housing (Koyou Sokushin Jyutaku) are usually five-storied  

buildings, however please be aware that there are no elevators.

(2) Upon moving in, please be prepared to clean the room yourself.

(3) Pets are not allowed.

(4) Depending on circumstances, your appointed day of moving in may be  

   postponed.
