Question I’m applying for immigration to other country and need to obtain a police certificate and clearance. Where can I have it?
Answer The procedure for the application of a " criminal record check " (police certificate) is as follows.
1. Office Hours: Mon-Fri 9:30am − 5pm (except public holidays)
2. Location: Kumamoto-ken Keisatsu-honbu Keiji-bu Kanshiki-ka
            6-18-1 Suizenji, Kumamoto-shi
3. Only an applicant can apply. No use of a representative.          
4. Required documents:
  (1) For non Japanese citizens in Japan
 1. Passport
 2. A certificate of original record of the alien registration (issued within 6
   months)
 3. An official document provided the reason for requirement of the
  certificate
  (2) For non Japanese citizens outside Japan
 1. Passport
 2. A certificate of original record of the alien registration (issued within 6
  months)
 3. A document provided the applicant's current address (drivers license, etc)
 4. An official document provided the reason for requirement of the
  certificate
  (3) Alien registration in other prefectures
The Kumamoto police headquarters deal with applicants who did alien registration in Kumamoto prefectures, but the registration made in others can be applied with specific reasons. Please ask for details below.

It might take for a while to accept the application for some countries and requirements. Please be sure to call for details.

Free of charge
7. Receipt
It takes about a week to receive the certificate. You will be notified of the available date by phone from the identification division. You are required to come and receive it in person. Mailing is not available. Please ask, if you send your representative to do it.
